Senate Democrats called on President Bush to fire Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Wednesday, saying that Rumsfeld exaggerated pre-war intelligence to justify an invasion of Iraq and has mishandled U.S. military efforts during the war. Republicans defended Rumsfeld and headed off a no-confidence vote, dismissing the move as a political stunt. (AP)
