According to a recent study by the former president of Teachers College at Columbia University, many teacher education programs are deeply flawed. The report – issued by Arthur Levine earlier this month – casts doubts on the most basic aspects of how teachers are taught and trained for their jobs. Teacher quality has a huge influence on whether students pass or fail. (AP)
